Job Description
One common trait binds all translators working at Corporate Services - excellent professional qualifications. From the potential candidates we expect the same approach to work at Corporate Services as from the existing members of our team. Our Customers value our professionalism - that is our conscientiousness, scrupulosity, reliability and timeliness.
People on the Corporate Services team abide by clearly defined principles. We endeavour to convey these principles to candidates from their first day at the office.
Basic requirements are a university degree and, at minimum, experience in working at a job requiring English. Potential candidates need not hold a degree in linguistics.
More important than long-term translation experience, we are looking for individuals predisposed to working on the written word.
We do not expect you to know tens of thousands of legal and business terms by rote. In our work we rely on many books, documents and the Internet, as a source of the living language.
Most important is a candidate's ability to edit texts, write well and be sensitive to style. A candidate must also be ready to learn and research on fields relevant to the translated documents. We are looking for those of you who can not only translate a text professionally, using the right terminology, but also write it well.
We are seeking persons who can independently convey complex thoughts with simple sentences. Persons who can write legibly using a style appropriate to a given document type.
What does a Translator's Work Look Like?
Translating work requires consistency and discipline, as well as a scrupulous approach to daily tasks. It entails stress, thus, you must be capable of handling work under pressure and in a tight schedule. The team at Corporate Services is often required to translate a document with tens of dozens of pages in less than a day. The success of the entire team depends on tight cooperation and effective communication.
To note, a translator's work necessitates spending hours at a time in front of a computer screen. Workstations at Corporate Services are equipped with LCD monitors that are much less tiring for the eyes.
Sense of Humour
The Corporate Services team is a group of individuals who sometimes falter, make mistakes, or live through experiences which are transformed into lasting CS anecdotes. Thus, of great importance is a potential candidate's ability to look from the sidelines with a bit of irony in relation to the self as well as others.
Recruitment
If the above describes you, corresponds to your natural predispositions, and fits in with your professional goals, then please fill out the on-line application - it is the first step of the Corporate Services' recruitment process. Once a submitted application is reviewed, chosen persons will be invited to a qualifying test comprising two stages: one testing a candidate's knowledge of English and the second, gauging a candidate's capabilities as a translator and a writer. If you complete the two successfully, you will be invited to an interview with members of the CS Executive Board. Thank you.
